Remember that English teacher who made you fall in love with books?
The one who supported you but also pushed you to do your best work.
It’s not too late to have that kind of teacher again.
My writing journey started many, many years ago with…a book. Or rather, many books.
Surprised? Didn’t think so.
For many writers, a love of reading kickstarts our writing journey. It definitely did for me.
Books have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. At three years old, I started “reading” picture books out loud, making up words and stories as I went along. By the time I was in second grade, I was 100% obsessed with reading. I would have gladly spent the entire day reading if I could. Then, I discovered writing and realized that I could create the magical stories that I loved so much.
Fast forward a couple decades... I now work as a high school English teacher. Every day, I get to share my love of books with students and watch them fall in love with reading themselves. As much as I love teaching reading, teaching students to write is even better.
There’s a special kind of magic that comes from helping a student find their voice, helping them discover the kernel of brilliance within their messy first draft, or motivating them to push through a final round of revision that will make their piece shine.
I created Olivia Helps Writers to take that magic outside the classroom. I want to help as many writers as I can, not just the ones who happen to land on my roster.
No matter what genre you write, people are out there waiting for your story—readers who will love your characters and want to crawl inside your world.
My job is to help you write the best book possible so that the heart of your book is allowed to shine, without being overshadowed by avoidable errors and beginner mistakes.
