Editing vs. Coaching
What’s the difference? Which one is right for me?
Editing is like going on a trip with a map.
Whether you choose to get a full developmental edit or a manuscript critique, you will walk away with clear guidance for how to approach your revision process.
I’ll help you see the obstacles and ways around them, but it’s up to you to put that plan into action.
Editing is best for writers who:
Love working independently
Just want a second opinion—not full on craft lessons or accountability support
Want to walk away with a revision plan that they can implement at their own pace.
Don’t want or don’t have time for monthly coaching meetings.
Aren’t ready or able to meet the minimum commitments for coaching.
Coaching is like going on a trip with a guide.
Coaching provides lots of feedback on your writing, just like an edit. But rather than working on your revisions individually, you will continue to have regular meetings with me.
In coaching, you get continued support that helps you improve your current work-in-progress and grow as a writer.
Coaching is best for writers who:
Want the added accountability of regular deadlines
Love having someone to answer their questions 1:1
Want ongoing feedback on their writing and revision process
Aren’t sure how to fix their manuscripts, even when given detailed feedback
Feel most creative when they have someone to bounce their ideas off of
